THE NEW YEAR

THE NEW YEAR

The tolling of bells

The blustering sounds of fireworks

Youths in total hysteria

Mothers preparing their young ones

Whose faces burned with joy

All rejoicing, all is expectant

The curtain is closing

A new chapter to begin

“New-year’s eve” as some call it

“watch-night” as ardent believers love to echo

The only night that becomes day

The only day we’re conscious of the night

See the preacher preaching

The singers singing

With a curve of joy on our faces

A sermon of Faith and Hope we’re sure to hear

Mama sat in front

Dad was behind her

Mother was next

Far out in the corner I was seated

Thanking and Praising

For the year that was

For the year that is

For the year to come

By the time I finished my prayers

I heard the bell chime

A Millennium was gone

Another lifetime had begun
