WE CAN’T BREATHE

WE CAN’T BREATHE

They hate us even more when then they see us

We took courage and questioned them

They were mute, searching for the words

But their actions said it all

That our worst mistake was been born black

And been amongst them

They called us coloured

We wondered why

When they changed like the chameleon

And despite the hardship, we remained black

Their fear was that we will be better

Our freedom made them bitter

Every time we went on our knees

It was either to talk to the Creator or

When they forced us down

They preached of peace

But gave us war instead

Stole our homes in a bid to build theirs

Their children grew to hate us

Despite the love ours gave
